For mac owners with cats

Cat Nip: A clever program to lock down your keyboard if your cat should just so happen to start playing on the keyboard

Oooh, shiny!

I don't have a cat, but I do have a puppy who loves to walk around in my keyboard, so this will come in handy. Thank you!

I had an unfortunate experience where my cat (then a kitten) walked across the iMac's keyboard and re-named the hard drive, and the home folder, and somehow deleted the contents of my desktop.

10.2x. I'm not quite sure what version exactly, but I still haven't figured out how my cat did that.

My cat regularly manages to open folders buried two and three deep in applications that were not all that accessible to begin with (Finder is obviously running, but I rarely have actual folders open in it, for example) and then insert fascinating typing.

(I'm running 10.7, but giving CatNip a try based on comments that suggest it might work anyway. Generally, I resort to the physical solution of closing the laptop, but that's sort of a pain in the neck.)

Yep, my cat deletes appointments regularly and changes system preferences. She also can play iTunes playlists and likes to google Tom Skeritt (I don't understand that one) (she has also deleted a bunch of playlists that I really needed and renamed my iTunes library). And, for a topper she can turn on the TV if the party really gets going. Her daughter watches serenely and doesn't get involved in the criminal mayhem.

I have tried a couple programs that locked the keyboard when you put the computer to sleep, but they suffered from human failure (I'd forget to put the computer to sleep) and they were a pain in the ass. I also changed my system alert sound to the most disturbing sound of cats fighting and yowling that I could find on the internet, but although it scared the bejeebus out of me, she was oblivious.

I will try this, thanks for posting it!
