smcFanControl is something I discovered while struggling with a failing right fan in my Macbook Pro. I think others might find it handy, too, because MBPs can run really hot, but you can often mitigate that by turning up the fan to a higher level. smcFanControl lets you control your minimum fan speed, so that you can keep your laptop cooler.
